Canadian
Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies
(CASHRA)
CASHRA is
the national association of Canada’s government agencies charged
with administering provincial and territorial human rights
legislation. Its goals are to foster collaboration among its members
and to serve as a national voice on human rights issues of common
concern.
Purposes:
- To provide opportunity for an
annual meeting of commissioners and officials of statutory human
rights agencies.
- To act as a forum for the
exchange of information of value to member agencies and to
assist in planning and fostering co-operative services.
- To provide an opportunity to
take a public position on issues of concern relating to the
protection and promotion of human rights by those member
agencies who agree with that position, but not in the name of
CASHRA unless there is unanimous agreement.
